So with the down time i’ve been having lately, I started on my quest once again to find some new stuff to listen to. Here are some that (in my opinion) are worth listening to:
Dudley Perkins: Holy Smokes
Pretty Good Hip Hop Album, another Madlib Creation. Great, unique, and tasteful beats as expected.
Rodrigo y Gabriela: 11:11
Great sophomore album by the Duo. Each track has a special dedication to their musical influences, ranging from Santana to Hendrix. The style in this album is much more rock driven than the first, but I really like the direction they went on this album.
U.S.E (United State of Electronica): Loveworld
Album has a good vibe. Driven by disco, electronica, and pop style beats, with catchy guitar riffs and hooks. Puts me on a good mood everytime i listen.
Pleasure P: Introduction of Marcus Cooper
Kinda skeptical about this album, but after a couple of listens, it’s pretty catchy. Gone a long way since the Pretty Ricky days, but it’s a pretty good listen. He may sound whiney at times, but past that, it’s a pretty good first album.
Casual Sax: The Blow Sven Theory
This is a pretty fun and entertaining listen. These two white dudes create pretty tasteful beats and rap about the most random and provocative things that one can ever think about. I really enjoyed the humor as well as the craftiness of the beats in each track.
Lee Fields and the Expressions: My World
I really enjoyed the vibe of this album. Has that old school R&B/Soul feel with a little bit of present added to it. One of those albums I can listen all the way through. One of my favorites this year.
